This application is built to help you determine the distance of your light curtain. Light curtains in many cases offer a nice alternative to fencing, the accessibility of installations is improved, while safety remains guaranteed.

Here, however, it is important that light curtains are placed in the right position. In addition, it is also important that the right light curtain is used for the right risk category. The safety distance of a light curtain is crucial for the safe use of an installation.

The light curtain must be placed at an adequate safe distance from a danger or dangerous situation. This distance depends, among other things, on the following factors:

The placement of the light curtain : horizontally, vertically or at an angle. This calculation is only for vertical placement of the light curtain.
The resolution of the light curtain (multi-beam, hand safe or finger safe)
The stop time of the installation (taking into account the entire shutdown path from initiation to finally removing the hazard)
The height of the light curtain in relation to the height of the hazard and the dangerous situation.

Sro= Minimum distance when reaching over
Srt = Minimum distance when reaching through

The Sro and the Srt is calculated and compared.
The highest value gives the correct safety distance
